Weather on Koh Chang

White Sand Beach

Koh Chang is a tropical island and the climate is appropriate. There is still no weather station on the island, which means that any Ko Chang weather forecast that is found on the Internet is only approximate to the truth. But as they say, nature does not have bad weather, especially on the Thai islands. And if the weather is cloudy and gloomy now, it means that soon life will be brightened up by the bright sun: tourists have never left the island without a portion of vitamin D and sea tan. Koh Chang Thailand weather is quite stable, most of the year is hot and dry, it rains mainly in the low, "green" season. You can get to Koh Chang all year round, you can use group transfers or order a taxi from us. Most of the excursion programs are also available all year round.

Koh Chang Climate

According to the generally accepted climatic classification, the climate of most of Thailand is of the tropical savanna type, while some parts of southern and eastern Thailand, including the archipelago, are on the monsoon type. Monsoon winds originate in India and other countries of South and East Asia (India holds the record for the amount of annual precipitation) and pass further through Asian countries, including Thailand, and then die out. That is why each part of the country has its own months of dominance of the monsoon, the so-called "green" season. On Koh Chang, this period lasts from early June to September inclusive, while, for example, on Koh Samui at this time, the weather is different.

Sea at Koh Chang

In Thailand, and in particular on the island, with the monsoon climate, the largest amount of rainfall falls, so the island's waterfalls, rivers and lakes are filled with water, and the island's vegetation blooms especially violently during this period. Rice, vegetables and fruits are grown throughout Thailand at this time, but the areas of Koh Chang are not suitable for rice plantations, so the locals are engaged in breeding coconut, durian and rubber trees such as hevea. Usually, it rains 3-4 times a week late at night or early in the morning, and it rarely happens that it rains one or more days in a row. In the event of unexpectedly large precipitation, a special position is declared by the Department of Emergency Situations, and all services are working in an intensive mode to eliminate the consequences of tropical rainfall. Such situations rarely happen, literally once a season. The green season is an excellent time for lovers of peace and quiet: at this time there are practically no tourists, hotels are launching lucrative offers.

High  Season

Lasts from mid-October until Songkran (Thailand New Year) itself. At this time, vacationers are pleased with the dry, calm weather, the blazing sun and the calm sea. Most tourists choose these months for their vacation, which is understandable - the weather will be good, and this is guaranteed. It can be chilly in the evenings, do not forget to bring light sweaters or jackets.
